Oregon DPSST Refresher Course: Armed Security Professionals
Armed security professionals certified through the state of Oregon DPSST are required to complete recertification training every year. This course is 4-hours of classroom instruction and then transitions to the range for marksmanship requalification. This course includes one handgun qualification, any additional platforms please add the add on qualification. All participants will receive a Oregon Private Security Firearm Qualification Card.
Armed security professionals certified through the state of Oregon DPSST are now required under House Bill 2527 to complete a firearms qualification training every year for each firearm make, model, and caliber that the armed private security professional will possess or have access to while performing private security services.
Armed security professionals certified through the state of Oregon DPSST are required to complete recertification training every year. Individuals previously certified who have since their previous certification received a conviction for domestic violence or felony charge, who are now required to register as a sex offender under ORS 163A.010, 163A.015, 163A.020 or 163A.025, or who have been convicted of any of the charges listed in ORS 137.700 will not meet the moral fitness requirements for an armed security professional recertification in the state of Oregon. Participants who are unlikely to receive their recertification following a background check performed by OSP are encouraged to not apply or complete this training course.
Our instructors reserve the right to refuse to allow completion of the qualifier for individuals who are assessed during the course or shoot to be a safety risk to themselves or the public at their current level of physical skill or mental capability to provide the services of an armed security professional.
Required Gear
Range suitable attire (Closed toe, leather upper footwear, warm/breathable material clothing as appropriate for the possible weather, long-pants must be worn year round)

Ear Protection
Handgun with holster
Two magazines and magazine pouch
25+ rounds ammunition
Pistol is 25 rounds per qualification please bring extra if you wish to warm up or in the event of remediation
Water
It’s recommended that students plan to bring their own:
Meal or snacks
Additional third magazine is highly recommended
Basic medical kit to include: gloves, gauze, and tourniquet
Body armor sufficient to defeat common handgun ammunition
